Job Title: Project Manager - OSP Construction

Job Description:

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fiber Construction Project Manager with extensive Outside Plant (OSP) experience to lead our construction projects in the telecommunications industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OSP construction, heavy permitting, underground construction, project management, and large project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage and oversee the successful delivery of fiber construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, project schedules, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and oversee all aspects of fiber construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, permitting, procurement, subcontractor management, and quality control.
  2. Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals, scope, and objectives.
  3. Manage project resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, to meet project milestones and deliverables on time and within budget.
  4. Coordinate with engineering, design, and field operations teams to ensure accurate project designs, permit acquisition, and construction methodologies in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  5. Conduct pre-construction site assessments and feasibility studies to identify potential challenges, risks, and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans as needed.
  6. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders, providing regular project updates, resolving issues, and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
  7. Monitor project progress, performance, and quality metrics, implementing corrective actions and process improvements to optimize project outcomes and ensure customer satisfaction.
  8. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices throughout the project lifecycle, promoting a culture of safety and accountability among project team members.
  9. Prepare and present project reports, status updates, and financial analyses to senior management, highlighting key achievements, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  10. Mentor and coach junior project management staff, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional growth and development within the team.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  2. Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Outside Plant (OSP) construction and telecommunications industry, with a proven track record of managing large-scale fiber construction projects from conception to completion.
  3. Strong knowledge of OSP construction methodologies, permitting processes, underground construction techniques, and fiber optic network deployments.
  4. Demonstrated experience in project management methodologies, tools, and software, with proficiency in project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  5. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  6. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects concurrently, and make data-driven decisions to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
  7. Thorough understanding of safety regulations, environmental regulations, and industry standards applicable to construction projects, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify issues, develop solutions, and drive results in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) applications used in OSP construction planning and design.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code), OSHA regulations, and FCC (Federal Communications Commission) guidelines for telecommunications infrastructure.
