Fiber & Copper Technician (Northern Nevada)
Northern Nevada, NV · 65-75k/yearTekCom Resources is a seeking a highly skilled and experience Combo Technician specializing in both Copper and Fiber installations. This is a PERM opportunity in the Northern Nevada area. As a Combo Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing copper and fiber optic cabling systems for telecommunications networks, data centers, or other relevant infrastructure. A company vehicle is provided and occasional travel throughout Northern Nevada is required.

Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, splice, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cables according to industry standards and specifications.
- Perform site surveys, troubleshoot repeaters, fault locating, and assess requirements for cabling installations.
- Handle the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems, including racks, patch panels, and related network equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
- Conduct quality checks and tests to ensure proper functionality and adherence to performance standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to plan and execute cabling projects effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, repairs, and tests performed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while working with cabling equipment and tools.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in copper and fiber optic cabling.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Copper and Fiber Technician or in a similar role within the telecommunications or networking industry.
- Proficiency in installing, terminating, splicing, and testing copper and fiber optic cables.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ANSI/TIA, BICSI, IEEE) related to cabling installations and practices.
- Familiarity with various cabling types, connectors, and related tools and equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to cabling systems.
- Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Physical capability to work in different environments, including climbing ladders, lifting heavy equipment, and working in confined spaces if necessary.
- Valid Drivers License with Clean MVR Required
