Construction Project Manager – FTTH, Irvine CA area.
We are currently recruiting a Construction Project Manager for a FTTH in the Irvine CA area.
This is a Direct Hire role with our client.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Construction Project Management building Fiber to the Home Networks and have plenty of local vendor and subcontractor relationships
You should also be comfortable in a client facing role as well.
Overview:
You’ll leadthe planning, execution, and close-out of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) construction projects, delivering outside-plant fiber infrastructure within time, budget, and specification constraints.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Construction Project Management building a Fiber to the Home Networks.
This is a Fiber to the Home build working as a Construction vendor for an Internet Service Provider. You should be familiar with GO95, GO128, NESC and the Telecommunications Contracting / General Contractor world.
Role:
Project planning and scheduling: Develop project plans, milestones, resource forecasts, material lists, and construction schedules for FTTH builds.
Contractor management: Select, supervise, and coordinate third-party construction crews and subcontractors; enforce quality and safety standards and validate completed work.
Construction oversight: Perform regular site inspections for aerial and underground builds; review and approve construction drawings, splicing schematics, and as-built documentation.
Permitting and right-of-way: Secure permits, coordinate with municipalities and utility owners, manage right-of-way approvals, and resolve permitting conflicts.
Budget and cost control: Develop and manage project budgets, track costs, approve invoices, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Quality assurance and standards compliance: Ensure construction meets company design standards and applicable industry standards (RUS, NESC, OSHA where applicable).
Risk management and issue resolution: Identify project risks early, escalate appropriately, troubleshoot field issues, and implement mitigation plans.
Stakeholder communication: Provide regular status reports to leadership, communicate with customers and internal teams, and present close-out documentation and lessons learned.
Project close-out: Coordinate punch lists, final inspections, inventory reconciliation, and delivery of complete as-built records and documentation.
What will catch our eye:
Experience: 5+ years managing telecom or utility construction projects; demonstrated experience with FTTH, FTTX, or fiber outside-plant construction preferred.
Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of aerial and underground fiber construction methods, splice and testing procedures, and aerial and underground construction.
Project management skills: Proven ability to plan, schedule, control budgets, and manage multiple crews and contractors simultaneously.
Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with permitting processes, right-of-way coordination, and safety regulations (OSHA, NESC, or regional equivalents).
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to create clear status reports and lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Driver’s license: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites regularly.
