Estimator/Bidder – OSP Fiber Construction - US Based WFH

TekCom Resources is seeking a Bidder / Estimator – OSP Fiber Construction for a full-time, direct hire role with our telecom infrastructure clients.
This is a remote (WFH) that will require some national travel expected, primarily for situations where the Field information isn’t clear or if a client specifically requests an in-person meeting to go over the pricing or bid.
As an Estimator/Bidder – OSP Fiber Construction, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates for fiber and coax construction projects.
Our client is a fiber-focused telecom infrastructure firm, and the focus of this role is creating detailed bid proposals for potential clients. You should be extremely proficient in bidding jobs.
You should a high level of experience with common OSP infrastructure , such as material costs for stranding cable, poles, drilling etc. Role:
Estimate Preparation: Prepare detailed and comprehensive pricing/bid estimates for construction projects focusing on fiber and coax telecom installation work, including materials, equipment and labor (employee and subcontractor) costs.
Data Analysis: Using sources like specs and blueprints, compile and organize data used for the preparation of accurate cost estimates and bid proposals.
Cross-Department Communication: Work alongside and collaborate frequently with all relevant stakeholders: project managers, engineers, clients, etc.
Cost Management: Use historical data and current cost databases/estimating software to determine market pricing for equipment, materials and services required for project estimation.
Client Interaction: Communicate extensively with clients, negotiate pricing, go over likely timeline and ensure client is comfortable with work to be performed.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records covering all of the above - estimates, pricing, communication, etc.
Utilizing tools like Google Earth for project assessment.
You should be proficient in bidding jobs.
The ideal candidate should be able to produce bids in a production-type environment while handling at least one large bid per month and taking into account geographical factors affecting pricing (e.g., Pacific Northwest being rocky, Florida being sandy with coral).
What will catch our eye: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a similar field preferred, or commensurate amount of experience. At least 3 years of experience in construction estimating bid preparation, especially aerial and buried telecom construction. Experience with any estimating and engineering software platforms, as well as Microsoft Office programs. Previous bidding / estimating experience on medium and large-scale builds. Up to ~5 million feet.
