Wireless Services Field Technician

Are you a hands-on telecom professional who thrives in the field? TekCom Resources is partnering with a leading wireless infrastructure services provider seeking a Wireless Services Field Technician I to join their growing Texas team. This is a fulltime direct hire role and is ideal for candidates experienced with small cell installation, fiber optics, and RF systems who take pride in safety, precision, and quality workmanship.
As a Wireless Services Field Technician, you’ll install, maintain, and troubleshoot small cells and fiber optic networks—both aerial and underground. You’ll work closely with supervisors and project managers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair small cell and fiber optic lines (aerial and underground).
  • Operate and document network status using OTDR, RF analyzers, fusion splicers, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and site plans to execute installations.
  • Perform fiber path confirmation, rod and rope installs, and small cell hardware mounting.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting on RF, coax, and fiber systems using PIM, sweep, and light meters.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; adhere to all company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Communicate project progress with supervisors and complete accurate daily documentation.
  • Mentor and train team members on field techniques, safety, and new technologies.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support wireless and fiber deployment initiatives.
Experience & Requirements
  • 1–3 years of experience in wireless or fiber field installation, small cell deployment, or related telecom work.
  • Familiarity with fiber splicing, RF testing, DC power terminations, grounding, and cabinet installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, MOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Must be able to travel to job sites up to 75–80% of the time throughout Texas.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift 50–75 lbs, operate a boom truck, and climb poles safely.
  • U.S. work authorization required; must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Certifications & Training
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, and Safety Training certifications (or ability to obtain).
  • Additional telecom or fiber-related certifications a plus.
