Field Engineer (Fiber)

We’re seeking motivated individuals with telecom, utility, or field engineering experience to join our client’s team as Field Engineers. This direct hire role offers the opportunity to work on critical network infrastructure, develop advanced field engineering skills, and grow within a company that values quality, safety, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field site surveys, pole audits, and route engineering to support telecom make-ready work.
  • Perform pole loading analysis and identify necessary adjustments to meet NESC and utility standards.
  • Locate underground facilities and perform 811 field markings to ensure safe construction practices.
  • Gather, verify, and document field data for construction as-builts and quality control checks.
  • Review DOT plan sheets, strand maps, and permitting requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, utilities, and permitting agencies to resolve field conflicts.
  • Respond to emergency events such as storm damage or network outages for rapid assessment and restoration planning.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions, occasionally performing physical labor such as lifting heavy equipment or accessing manholes/handholes.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, utility field engineering, or make-ready assessment preferred.
  • Familiarity with NESC guidelines, pole attachment regulations, and state/municipal permitting processes a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, strand maps, and utility construction documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and logical problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to cross-train in related disciplines (flagging, damage assessment, locating, etc.).
  • Must pass background check, drug screening, DMV review, E-Verify, and job-specific certifications.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites.
