Junior Fiber Designer

Buford, GA · Telecommunications · $55k-$65k DOE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Fiber Designer to join our client’s telecom engineering team. This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are looking to build a long-term career in telecom engineering and fiber network design. The ideal candidate will bring curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a desire to learn the technical aspects of fiber design from experienced engineers. AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development of fiber network designs for OSP and ISP projects.
  • Learn design standards, workflows, and tools under the guidance of senior engineers and designers.
  • Review and incorporate redlines, field notes, and as-builts into design packages using Adobe Pro.
  • Support preparation of design deliverables for permitting, construction, and client submission.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to resolve design-related questions.
  • Build technical skills with CAD, GIS, and other industry design software over time.
  • Contribute to maintaining accurate project records and design documentation.
Experience & Requirements
  • 0–2 years of experience in telecom, engineering, drafting, or related technical field experience (internships or coursework considered).
  • Degree or coursework in Engineering, Drafting, Telecommunications, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, or other design software is a plus but not required (training provided).
  • Familiarity with fiber splicing
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in fiber design and telecom engineering.
