Construction Manager – Small Cell Construction

The Construction Manager – Small Cell Construction, this is a contract position with a hybrid schedule, and you must reside in the Houston, TX area. plays a vital role in overseeing and supporting the day-to-day operations of small cell network deployment. This role ensures that all construction activities, from design review and materials management to vendor coordination and invoice accuracy, are completed efficiently and in alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
The Construction Manager partners closely with internal teams and external vendors to manage purchase orders, monitor construction milestones, track deliverables, and report on project performance. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of small cell/wireless construction with strong organizational and administrative skills to help deliver projects on time, within budget, and to Crown Castle’s high standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate design and construction vendors throughout project lifecycle
• Review A&E designs for small cell construction and ensure technical compliance
• Create bills of materials (BOM) and manage small cell material orders
• Gather and compare vendor material quotes; provide cost analysis to management
• Prepare, issue, and process purchase orders and contractor invoices accurately
• Track and forecast project financials, including vendor PO status and past-due invoices
• Maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables; identify and resolve variances
• Provide regular progress updates and reports to management
• Support service delivery requirements, including close-out package preparation
• Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely project completion
• Assist with ad hoc reporting, data analysis, and process improvement initiatives

Experience & Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in small cell or wireless construction
  • Strong understanding of small cell node design and deployment processes
  • Ability to interpret and verify PIM/Sweep testing results
  • Experience managing purchase orders, materials, and vendor billing preferred
  • Proficiency in project tracking tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skill
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
     

What Will Catch Our Eye: Proven experience managing multiple small cell build projects simultaneously. Hands-on familiarity with fiber and wireless network construction practices. Demonstrated success improving process efficiency or billing accuracy. Strong vendor management and cross-team collaboration skills.
