OSP Engineer – ODOT knowledge required
We are seeking an OSP Engineer with solid ODOT experience. This is a WFH remote role with occasional travel into the Central and Eastern, OH market for requested municipality walk throughs.
Must be familiar with Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) plant reads
We are looking for someone that really knows and understands Utility pole attachments / aerial pole attachments and the NESC - National Electric Safety Code and ROW rules.
In this role you will be verifying current designs for constructability accuracy with the potential to identify Engineering changes as they relate to the ODOT requirements to save installation time, permitting fees, make ready cost, and safety.

Role:
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge with several years of Underground and Aerial design experience and a thorough knowledge of construction placement processes for Aerial plant and UG preferred.
- Produce, or revise OSP cost estimates
- Permit preparation, proofing, filing, and tracking
- Review surveys for planned fiber routes – includes OSP, ISP and premise
- Review existing designs and proof for accuracy against ODOT plant reads – includes validating pole data collection, rights-of-way, easements (both public and private)
- Understanding Make-Ready challenges, costs, and be able to propose alternate remedies to pole owners
- Experience extending fiber to Enterprise businesses and Tower sites
You will be verifying current designs for constructability accuracy with the potential to identify Engineering changes in path to save installation time, permitting fees, make ready cost, and safety.
In addition, you will be evaluating Make Ready proposals/ estimates and proposing self-Remedy suggestions for our temporary pole attachments. The ideal candidate will also be required to have a thorough understanding of the N.E.S.C. Guidelines as this is pertinent to ensure we do not attach at unsafe or incorrect locations on the pole and maintain proper ground clearance over roadways, sidewalks, and fields.
